With the change of recent years economic situation and government policy, Private Hospitals are playing more important role for the Hong Kong Healthcare industry. With facing the challenge, most of Private Hospitals are forced to change from their business operation from “Family-orientated Clinic” to an “Enterprise Hospital Model”. In order to cope with this rapidly expansion in Healthcare market, improving and catching up with the International Patient Safety Standard, the Healthcare Transformation Programme was launched in the Year of 2008 at St. Paul’s Hospital.

Healthcare Transformation is a Change Management Strategy that could align Physicians, Nurses, Non-clinical staff, Processes and Technologies of St. Paul’s Hospital closely with the business strategy and visions. The programme was built around the main goals of

Improving patient safety,
Improving quality of patient services,
Reducing Patient wait time,
Streamline Clinical and Non Clinical Operations,
Improving Process efficiencies,
Improving Communication across inter-department,

With the help of IT technologies to achieve the goals, we are implementing the world-class SAP ish/med Enterprise System for the clinical functions and back-office operations with using the Big Bang Approach. Of course there are so many challenges encountered in the Transformation Programme and its Continuous Improvement Process.
