Credit Card and Exchange Rate

The legal tender is Hong Kong Dollars (HK$). Although the exchange rate of HKD is linked to the US dollars at a fixed rate of about HK$ 7.8 to US$ 1, there may also be a slight fluctuation. Hong Kong banknotes are issued by four institutions including HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank,  Bank of China (Hong Kong), and Hong Kong Monetary Authority.

Currency exchange service is provided by banks, hotels and other authorized money exchangers. International credit cards such as American Express, VISA, Diners Club and Master Card are widely acceptable in most hotels, retail stores and restaurants. Union-pay card also gets more and more popular in these days.
