Lessons Learned from Scotland’s Electronic Health Record Programme
As governments around the world move ahead with Electronic Health Record initiatives, a lot can be learned from the pioneers. In this session, Kerry Stratton will draw upon the experience of working with the NHS National Service Scotland in rolling out an Electronic Health Record across the country. He will share best practices that foster success in the areas of procurement, governance, IT design and implementation, clinician engagement, team development, going Live, and leadership while discussing the value of a country-wide standard approach.
Bio Sketch:
With more than three decades of experience in delivering technology solutions to healthcare organisations worldwide, Kerry Stratton plays a central role in the ongoing development and execution of InterSystems’ global healthcare strategy. Since joining InterSystems in 2005, Stratton has been invited by over 35 governments and regional healthcare organisations to discuss their e-health strategies. He has played a key role in delivering Electronic Health Record solutions in Sweden, the Netherlands, Scotland, Brazil, Chile, and South Africa and is a frequent speaker on the issue of Electronic Health Record strategies and success factors.
Before joining InterSystems, Stratton was Chief Executive of TrakHealth, a recognized healthcare technology innovator, acquired by InterSystems in 2007. He founded Australia-based TrakHealth in 1991 and led the company to market leadership, providing a Web-based healthcare information system that is now installed in leading healthcare organizations in 25 countries. Stratton’s background also includes serving as Managing Director at Hoyden-Spike, an Australian provider of healthcare and transportation application and as Director of Détente Systems, a provider of laboratory, radiology and other clinical systems that has been acquired by Reston, VA-based QuadraMed Corp. He began his career as a medical scientist for Pathology and Allied Services, one of the largest medical testing laboratories in Sydney, Australia.
