Workshop 2拓導課二 “Preparation for interfacing with the eHR”
Facilitator: Ms Vicky FUNG, Senior Health Informatician, Health Informatics, Hong Kong Hospital Authority
Description: In healthcare, data standardisation helps improve efficiency of healthcare services by reducing duplicate tests and avoid errors by reducing miscommunication and reducing data transcription and duplication. Currently in Hong Kong, health-related and medical data are usually created and kept by different healthcare providers at different locations in different formats. For the benefits of patients, clinicians and the society, a territory-wide patient-oriented eHR sharing system is being developed in a phased approach. Health data standardisation reduces cost of technical integration by allowing systems to interface in a uniform way and relieving system developers from building separate interfaces, thus deemed crucial in view of the trend of increasing IT adoption in healthcare institutions in Hong Kong connecting to the eHR sharing system. This two-hour workshop would help clinicians, heath informatics professionals, and health IT service providers and IT professionals working at healthcare institutions, such as hospitals and clinics, to understand more about how they can better plan and equip themselves for the upcoming development of systems interfacing with the eHR sharing system.
The participants will learn:
1. Standards being used in the eHR
2. Interpretation of the eHR standards
3. Preparation at the hospitals for the interfacing
4. Principles for data mapping
